UnitedHealthCare assassin and unlikely cult hero Luigi Mangione faced court on the 23rd of December, 2024 as he was formally handed down his charges. Mangione unsurprisingly pleaded not guilty to 11 charges, proving that he is going to make this case a difficult one for prosecutors.

In Early December, Mangione is accused of murdering UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson outside of an investor meeting at a Manhattan hotel. Mangione allegedly shot Mr Thompson in the back multiple times before fleeing the scene. It is said they had travelled nomadically for the next five days, until he was found in Altoon, Pennsylvania at a McDonalds restaurant.

Luigi was found wearing a backpack, containing all the evidence of the crime he is accused of committing, including a handwritten manifesto, explaining that his actions were carried out to send a message to the people to stand up against corporate greed.

Mangione was escorted by a number of heavily armed guards, showing that the state are treating him as a very high level threat to the public. Mangione's lawyer, veteran attorney Karen Friedman Agnifilo, has condemned this perp walk, stating that it was "unnecessary" and "highly political", as she believes this was orchestrated by the state to draw as much attention to the case as possible.

Mangione is now being held in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His next court date is February 21st, 2025, where the battle to prosecute the alleged stalker and murderer of Brian Thompson will begin.

More to come.
